East Chicago Lighthouse Charter School Appoints Ms. Tess Mitchner as Principal
East Chicago, IN (PRWEB) March 26, 2006 -- Ms. Tess Mitchner comes to The East Chicago Lighthouse Charter School, also known as ECLCS, from Teach For America, as the Program Director in Chicago, IL. At TFA she trained and supported over 200 public school teachers, while developing programs and workshops. Ms. Mitchner taught at a charter school in Chicago, IL as well as in East Palo Alto, CA and Menlo Park, CA. In each teaching position she worked to develop curriculum and created rubrics and standards for elementary education. As both a teacher and a program director her goal was to increase student achievement.
Ms. Mitchner received her Masters of Education in Educational Leadership, at DePaul University in Chicago, IL and her BA from Mount Holyoke College in MA. She received her Elementary Multiple Subject Credential with Cross-Cultural Language Acquisition Development Emphasis from San Francisco State University and attended the School for International Training in South Africa.
Ms. Mitchner brings to ECLCS a strong willingness to serve as a school leader and take personal responsibility for the children’s academic success. Ms. Tess Mitchner wants students at East Chicago Lighthouse Charter School to acquire the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes to be productive and responsible citizens and workers. “Our goal is for every child to succeed and excel beyond expectations.”
