High School Sports The Magazine to Kick Off Premiere Issue with Collin County Playoff Preview

Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) September 24, 2007 -- Communities in the North Dallas area of Collin County will be introduced to a new high octane glossy sports magazine devoted exclusively to high school sports as business developer JD Sanders launches High School Sports The Magazine: Collin County, in November of 2007.

"Our organization has always focused on improving the quality of life in the communities we serve. HSSTM expands that passion for FTG Media, awarding us the opportunity to publish a wholesome, top tier magazine dedicated to showcasing the accomplishments of local student athletes, schools, and the community ... for us, it's just completely a win-win situation," said Sanders.

Each issue holds human-interest stories inspired by local student athletes, advice for parents and electrifying coverage of regional high school sporting events. The magazine is free to the community and will be distributed at high-traffic convenience stores, restaurants and supermarkets.

Sanders and Publisher Ryker Young started FTG Media, LLC earlier in the summer and plan on expanding the publishing territory to North Dallas County and South Dallas County within the next year. FTG Media also owns rights to counties north, east, and south of Dallas, and plans to launch publications in East Texas including Tyler.

Sanders has hired a staff boasting decades of national and local publishing experience. Editor-in-Chief Tim Polzer began his 20-year journalism career covering high school sports in the Dallas-Fort Worth area before going on to work as an editor and producer for the National Football League, NFL.com, SportsIllustrated.com and Beckett Publications. Polzer has written on the realm of sports from Super Bowls to U.I.L. girls regional basketball finals and interviewed the likes of high school heroes turned Hall of Famers Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin, and high school legends such as Todd Dodge. Polzer's work has appeared in USA Today, New York Times, Boston Globe, Dallas Morning News and NFL Insider.

"When I had my first look at High School Sports The Magazine, I asked: 'What took you so long?' Never has such a high-quality monthly magazine been devoted to the achievements of Texas high school athletes, their schools and their communities," said Polzer.

Sanders has been a professional marketing executive and business developer for 19 years. He's addressed entrepreneurs for the U.S. Small Business Administration, counseled numerous venture capitalists and was a full partner in THE ISIS GROUP, a private consulting firm focusing on Franchise and Business Acquisition and Valuation. His specialty is marketing, market expansion and penetration and concept development.

"We intend to capitalize on HSSTM's experience and the overwhelming interest in our product by expanding rapidly into North and then South Dallas, and eventually East Texas. After all, who doesn't like High School Sports?" asked Sanders.

Sanders is distributing 30,000 copies per issue of High School Sports The Magazine: Collin County at approximately 300 area locations. The full-color, 100-page publication will also be distributed to schools and athletic directors. An online digital version will be available as well. Community members can find the free magazine at area Tom Thumb stores, 7-11 convenience Stores, Wal-Mart, Blockbuster Video, select Sam's Clubs and other retail establishments.

High School Sports The Magazine was founded in 2005 to celebrate the dedication and winning spirit of high school athletes. HSSTM provides unique high school sports coverage and real-life stories about student athletes in each community it serves. HSSTM began franchising its concept in September 2006 and plans a rapid expansion into 25 additional major markets in the near future. High School Sports The Magazine: Collin County, is the 13th franchise of its kind awarded nationwide.
