SafeMedia Comes To Hollywood To Share Business Technology Solutions For The Much Needed University and Entertainment Industry

Universal City, CA & Boca Raton, Florida (Billboard Publicity Wire) September 18, 2007 -- Counterfeiting and Global piracy, especially Internet piracy is costing America billions of dollars in lost wages, taxes and goods, one more reason SafeMedia Corporation believes the MPAA, RIAA, government agencies, ISP's and the education community should do more to prevent it. SafeMedia contends this group should work on finding viable technical solutions that satisfies the needs of all the stake holders wanting to secure the Internet and cut out Internet Piracy.

The workshop is designed to engage university leaders, entertainment executives, artists, consumers, technology companies and experts in conversations about the Internet and Entertainment. It will explore areas where vision, strategic interests and expertise converge to surface opportunities for collaboration.

"Music and movie piracy costs the U.S. sound recording and motion picture industries billions of dollars in lost revenue and profits annually," said SafeMedia Corp. President Pasquale Giordano. SafeMedia Corp. is a technology company that has developed a cost effective solution that eliminates the complex dangers of P2P networks and illegal file sharing. SafeMedia's network appliance - Clouseau is a cost effective solution that eliminates all the dangers of contaminated P2P networks on Government, Corporate, University and ISP networks. SafeMedia's solution never invades user privacy, because it does not examine files or users.

"SafeMedia technology can never be circumvented via encryption, compression or any other method. Our solution eliminates the dangers of identity theft, viruses, malware, and spyware to your network from contaminated P2P networks.

Top Educational CIO and IT leaders, senior executives representing digital content owners, industry experts, and Internet Service Providers and solution providers will address topics including:

? Digital social behaviors among college age consumers

? New technology and innovations that will open the door to new opportunities

? Projects for the entertainment industry and universities to work together

An Institute for Policy Innovation (IPI) report, released last month, reveals global music piracy robs the United States of $12.5 billion in economic output and more than 71,000 jobs annually. Sound recordings -- and other content considered to be intellectual property -- are the most important growth drivers in the U.S. economy, accounting for almost 40 percent of economic growth and nearly 60 percent of growth in U.S. exports, according to IPI.

"That's only the tip of the iceberg," said CEO & Chairman, Safwat Fahmy, SafeMedia Corp. "Our solutions utilize advanced technologies such as: Adaptive Fingerprinting and DNA markers; Adaptive network patterns; Intelligent libraries; Remote update and Self-healing to effectively drop all contaminated P2P traffic with no invasion of user privacy," said Fahmy. Universities, Schools, MPAA, RIAA and other organizations all know about this affordable technology.

According to published reports, Internet providers are scrambling in billion dollar battles with P2P networks offering illegal downloads of copyright materials. LAEDC in a study for the MPAA reported that the music industry lost $2 billion in piracy last year, while movie piracy cost $6.1 billion in lost annual revenue. The film and television studios are reportedly spending more than $100 million per year in efforts to stop illegal content distribution.

"Many ISPs continue to fight P2P content on their networks, and they face constantly changing technical battles and customer dissatisfaction. Whether an ISP chooses to fight or embrace P2P will be a major factor in restoring the value of digital copyrighted material on the Internet and saving high-speed bandwidth in the future," said Safwat Fahmy. "We have developed business solutions combining P2P Disaggregator technology (P2PD) and a Digital Internet Distribution Solution (DIDS) that prevents contaminated P2P networks from indiscriminately being accessed by users' computers, and saving bandwidth at the same time, Our solution focuses on achieving one purchase equals one copy on the Internet, he explained.

"P2PD is fully effective at forensically discriminating between contaminated and non-contaminated P2P traffic," said Giordano. "There are no false positives whether encrypted or not: P2PD operates at network speed with little or no latency. The purpose of P2PD technology is not to shut down P2P networks or inhibit P2P technology. SafeMedia allows traffic from non contaminated P2P to pass to its destination- we only drop traffic to and from contaminated P2P networks."
