The Human Capital Institute and American University's Kogod School of Business Announce "Across the Generations" Education and Networking Event

Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) September 5, 2007 -- The Human Capital Institute (http://www.humancapitalinstitute.org/hci/home.guid) (HCI), a global professional association and educator in talent management strategies, and American University's Kogod School of Business, the school of choice for interdisciplinary business education, today announced the first in a series of network and learn events for the Washington, D.C. business community.

The B-school breakfast event (http://www.humancapitalinstitute.org/hci/events_bschools.guid), sponsored by Buck Consultants, will take place on Wednesday, October 10, from 7:30 AM to 10:00 AM ET at American University's Kogod School of Business in the Mary Graydon Center, Rooms 4 and 5, located at 4400 Massachusetts Avenue NW.

The presentation, "Across the Generations: Acquiring, Managing, and Motivating Today's Workforce," (http://www.humancapitalinstitute.org/hci/events_bschool.guid?_trainingID=1246) aims to demystify today's multi-generational workforce.

"There are now four generations in the workforce, each with distinct expectations, ideals, and communication and work styles. The implications are huge for employers working to acquire, engage, develop, and retain great talent," said Allan Schweyer, HCI's President and Executive Director.

Schweyer will moderate a panel discussion that will explore how to manage talent from the different generations, how leaders should vary their own styles to achieve the highest possible performance from a multi-generational team, how to communicate with members of different generations, and more.

Panel members Maurita Benjamin, Director of Recruiting for Enterprise Solutions Group; Alma Hughes, Vice President of Lee Hecht Harrison; and Sonali Jayawardena, an MBA candidate at the Kogod School of Business, will provide participants with information and insight from several vantage points. Benjamin has first-hand experience sourcing, courting, and hiring talent across generations; Hughes coaches Fortune 500 corporate on managing multi-generations; and Jayawardena, an accomplished GenNext student, will share what she expects from a career and the workplace, as well as what factors influence her most when choosing a job and what will make her thrive in a position.

There is no charge for this event, and it is open to the public. Professionals interested in attending should call 866-538-1909 or visit HCI's website to register.
